Quick Thoughts 10/31
- Happy Halloween! I’m dressed as Superfan Kahn today.
- Here’s a picture of the pumpkins we carved this year (I did the bat, Holly did the reaper, and the traditional one was for Payton):
- Fox made a very nice decision yesterday by showing the end of the Bears-Lions game after the Panthers destroyed the Vikings. I expected them to cut to the start of the Eagles-Broncos, but instead I was able to see the final two minutes of regulation and overtime in the Bears-Lions game. What a finish!
- The Bears control their own destiny now, but are sitting very nicely in their weak division.
- Brett Favre, welcome to the five interception club.
- I was shocked to find out that the Iowa State game had been on TV here this past Saturday. I had no idea it was going to be picked up, and would have liked to seen the route they put on Texas A&M. One more win and they’ll go to a bowl. Too bad the Big 12 North championship isn’t very likely anymore, but maybe they are peaking at the right time. The Colorado game will be big, but we have to hope the Buffaloes collapse too.
- Revenge of the Sith comes out on DVD tomorrow, and I’ll definitely be picking it up. I was scouring the ads in the weekend paper to see which store would have the lowest price, but not a single place listed their price in the ads. They just listed it as “Low Price.” This is a practice that really gets my blood boiling. I suppose their thinking is that they just want to get you into the store to find out the price, but I have better things to do. Usually Target or Best Buy have the lowest prices on new releases, and I’ll probably go to Target since there are less salespeople trying to push junk on you. I hate going to Best Buy and being asked if I want to subscribe to magazines while checking out, and it really annoys me when they ask for my phone number while checking out. They have no business asking for that, and I never give it to them.
- We’ve taken a lot of pictures in October. Here’s a link to the gallery.

Jenny and I carved pumpkins yesterday.
We also used the kits and they turned out very good.
That's a good idea to take pictures in the dark.
I did that same reaper last year. It was very challenging, especially around the hands.
Tonight I might hide in the leaves and scare kids all night. But they start trick-or-treating so early now that it's not even dark and I may not be home from work yet.
