Quick Thoughts 1/9

  • Let there be light!  The sun came out in Rochester on Saturday for the first time since December 22nd.  As far as the weather guys can tell, that’s probably a record for the most consecutive days without sun here.
  • The Wild-card games are over in the NFL now, and that’s a good thing.  Most of the games weren’t even close, and that means unless you liked one of the teams playing, they weren’t very fun to watch.
  • The Bears play the Panthers next Sunday in Chicago.  If this game is played like their first meeting during the regular season, I will be one happy camper.
  • I found this pretty funny.  Yahoo! columnist, Charles Robinson, said at the beginning of the season that if the Chicago Bears win their division, he’ll eat his laptop.  So now he’s taking suggestions for how to accomplish this feat.  At least he’s looking like a man of his word.
  • Today’s lyrics: “Can you see, like a child?  Can you see, what I want?”

Carolina was the team I didn't particularly want. The other two possibilities had young QB's that could play like... well, like they did. Jake Delhomme can be quite inconsistent too, though, so maybe it'll work out. Carolina has recent playoff experience though, and seemed like they knew better than the other NFC teams what it really takes to elevate your game to the level required. But, a lot of the Bears leaders were there for the 2001 playoff "run," and I think understand that now, too. Maybe "The Moose" can pick up his game just a tad this time?

Anyway, I still give the advantage to the Bears, but I can envision things going horribly, horribly wrong...

That's cool about the Payton picture. I'd been meaning to get one of Aidan submitted, but I probably won't bother. Maybe I'll put in on the board...

I sure hope things don't go horribly, horribly wrong, but I too, could see that happening. They should be fine though if the defense can pull off another performance like they did in the first meeting.

I'd be really scared of any team that shuts out the #2 NFC offense IN NEW YORK!! Carolina's Offense isn't the greatest, but isn't 2nd to last like the Bears;) Should make for a good game - Glad I'll be home for Sunday's games!
