- Here are some of the most popular myths in science. The Mythbusters have tackled some of them, but I learned a thing or two here that I didn’t know. The chicken living without a head reminds me of the Bigshow chicken video.
- It’s not even June yet, but the Cubs are in the middle of a big swoon, losing seven straight games. I hope Derek Lee is a quick healer…the Cubs are really missing him right now.
- We caught our fist rabbit of the year yesterday. I have to keep them out of the garden. (Don’t worry PETA folks, it’s a catch and relocation program.)
- Who’s going to win Survivor this season? It would be nice to see Terry continue his domination, but I have a feeling Cirie will end up winning it. I’ve watched every season of Survivor, but the funny thing is, after about the first three seasons, I couldn’t tell you who the winner was. They all just blur together after that.
- David Blaine is pretty amazing. He failed to hold his breath for nine minutes, but still lasted over seven. I held mine along with him, but barely made it past one minute. I think his feats would be a lot more impressive if he wasn’t a magician though. Since he is, a lot of people are kind of like, “Is he doing that for real, or is it some sort of illusion?” That’s the way I feel at least, but I’m pretty sure his endurance stunts are the real deal.

If anyone's interested in the Chicken Video, I have it digital now and ready to email. It probably isn't PETA safe just for reference.
I'm still thinking Blaine is a faker, and his not making 9 minutes was part of the act to make you think he's the real deal. (Good psychology.)
I was kind of thinking the same thing Brian. It also seems kind of staged how they are really playing up the dangers of the stunt. Then at the end of this one, Stuart Scott was saying that his muscles should be atrophied, and there's no way he should be able to walk, but yet he was. It sure looks legit, but I'm still skeptical.
If it were someone else, I would say its legit, but after seeing how horribly he cheated from the magician side I wouldn't put it past him to be faking this stuff, too. To me, a legit magician does stuff that looks good to a live audience and doesn't take advantage of the nature of TV at all, except maybe to put the camera at the optimal position to not expose the sleight of hand, or whatever. But for that levitation bit he did, they showed a real audience reacting to the initial liftoff, which you accomplish by standing on one tiptoe. Then, they later filmed the backs of a bunch of "in on it" people wearing clothes similar to the original audience, while Blaine was lifted up on wires so he was, like, 20 feet off the ground or whatever. For TV, it looked like a bunch of live people watched him go from the ground to 20 feet all without wires, when really the 1" to 20' part was accomplished by wires in front of a shill audience. Wow! What great editing! Obviously, no reasonable adult ever thought he was really flying, but the nature of the trickery just seems wrong.
Kahn - you can now get that college degree taht you've always wanted!!!! CONGRATS!!!
