Quick Bears Thoughts for 8/4

  • I’m looking forward to watching the Bears play on Monday Night Football this coming Monday in the Hall of Fame game against the Dolphins.
  • Hopefully the Bears can sign Cedric Benson soon.
  • I expect the Bears to win at least nine games this season if they can stay healthy.  The schedule is similar to what it was when they won the division in 2001 and finished 13–3.  Anything is possible, and I’m positive their offense will be much better than last year.  Of course, since the season hasn’t started yet, everything I’ve been reading has been very optimistic coming out of camp.

The key is the health, isn't it? The most frustrating thing about Angelo is that out of three positions on the field where it should be relatively easy to find at least adequate players -- LB, Safety, and WR -- we only have depth at one (safety). One LB goes down, and we not only have to bring out someone who shouldn't be starting, but someone who really shouldn't be on an NFL roster. Take what he's done with WR, QB, LB, TE, and OL, and you have to admit -- the man is not compiling an impressive record.

So -- the starters? Pretty good, in a weak conference anything can happen. The depth -- oh Lord, don't let Odom get on the field again...
